Galaxy S Series: Samsung's Latest Mobile Phones

Samsung really is an amazing brand to take into consideration when talking about the latest mobile phones. Its products tend to be of very high quality. This article will introduce you to the Galaxy S series, one of Samsung's latest releases. The Galaxy S series is divided into different Smartphone versions: the Fascinate, Epic 4G, Vibrant and the Captivate. However, it seems that more might be released in the future.

It definitely is useful to get to know each of these different versions of mobile phones, so as to be able to notice the differences and similarities that exist among them. This will allow for an easier choice if willing to buy one of the Galaxy S Smartphones. Moreover, the Galaxy S series definitely is among the best releases when referring to the latest mobile phones 2010.

First and foremost, let's see what Samsung latest mobile phones have in common. They all include the same operating system known as Android 2.1, a useful touchscreen for simple controls and other features such as Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi. Overall, they are built and configured for a constant interaction with the technological world, either for leisure or working.

Galaxy S Series: Samsung's Latest Mobile Phones

Nevertheless, these mobiles phones do have some differences. Although most of the latest mobile phones have a durable battery for non-complicated daily use, some people might need even more battery time for different reasons. This is the situation that makes the Samsung Vibrant Smartphone a no-brainer pick. The fact is that while the other versions of the Samsung Galaxy S series include up to 300 hours, the Vibrant allows for up to 450 hours, being an outstanding pick for those that cannot constantly charge their phone for those who love to travel without having to even think about these tedious activities. It must be stated that the hours mentioned refer to the mobile phone being in standby mode, since using it will make it run out of battery faster. But, the Vibrant is still the best pick battery-wise.

For picture lovers, the Captivate, Epic 4G and Fascinate versions are great picks, since they all include a very cool Auto Focus feature. Nevertheless, something that mustn't be ignored is the fact that while the Vibrant, Fascinate and Captivate versions have a built-in 4x Digital Zoom with a 5.0 megapixel camera resolution, the Epic 4G definitely stays behind in this aspect with a 3x Digital Zoom with 5.0 megapixel camera resolution.

So, even though the Galaxy S Smartphones do seem to have various similarities, several differences can also be found. These are crucial discoveries that must be understood, as customers tend to have different priorities at the moment of picking a phone according to its features. Having a good source of information to recur to definitely allows for an easier and better pick. Being the important brand that Samsung is in terms of the latest mobile phones available, it cannot be considered an exception when a deeper analysis is needed.

Top Ten Places to Visit in Germany

If you're looking for a place that's rich with remnants of the recent past, then Germany's the place for you. As you may well know, Germany was a key player in the previous world wars. Thus, it filled Germany with monuments to the stories of our grandfathers about times long past but never forgotten.

1.) Berlin Wall

Travel Leisure

There's no other place in Germany that's more suffused with charged up emotions than the Berlin Wall. You can just imagine the tears and the blood shed over this very wall. This remnant of the wars stands as one of the greatest monuments to democracy known to man - a sign that freedom will always come out victorious.

Top Ten Places to Visit in Germany

2.) The Romantic Road

Driving through the Romantic road would be one of the most pleasant drives you'll experience in your whole life. This road is flanked by scenic landscapes on both sides. Occasionally, you'll pass through a picturesque town, a beautiful gothic church, and sometimes, a quaint countryside inn.

3.) Augsburg

Passing through the Romantic Road will lead you to Augsburg, a town founded by the Roman Legions and named after the esteemed Roman emperor, Augustus. This picturesque town contains such historical places as St. Anne's Church, the place where Martin Luther took refuge, and Dom, a very unusual Cathedral. You can also find here the Renaissance Golden Room, a sight that will make you squint with its shine.

4.) Neuschwanstein Castle

Did you know that Walt Disney used a castle found in Germany as his inspiration for the castle of Sleeping Beauty? It's true, those alabaster walls and those high towers and wide parapets were all based on the Neuschwanstein Castle. It is now hailed as one of the most popular tourist spots in Germany.

5.) The Castles of Fussen

Like most of Europe, several castles are littered throughout Germany. It contains the other two of Ludwig's castles, the first one being the Neuschwanstein Castle. This is a must-see for all those families who are traveling through Germany because the place literally looks like it's been torn out of a storybook.

6.) Lake Constance

Lake Constance is both a tourist spot and an essential source of life for the Germans. Several areas in the country rely on this very lake for their drinking water, and this large lake is also a great place to swim and to go bird watching. Indeed, if you're one for beautiful natural sceneries, then Lake Constance is not to be ignored.

7.) The Black Forest

The name looks like it has been taken from one of the fairy tales, doesn't it? The Black Forest - it sounds like a place where evil witches reside and cursed trees grow, but don't let that deter you though. If anything, the Black Forest can hardly be related to its name as it's a sunny forest with tall and sturdy firs. It's a great place to go hiking and a great place for picnics.

8.) Cologne

When you hear the word, Cologne, what comes into your mind? A beautiful fragrance, right? Well, meet the town that's called Cologne for a reason, and indeed, the town of Cologne has its own peculiar fragrance that's very pleasing to the nose. Also, there you will find a beautiful view of the River Rhine and the Cologne Cathedral.

9.) Dachau

Take a break from the fairytale castles and mystical forests and go to the place called Dachau. Dachau is a concentration camp - a remnant of Germany's dark past where you can just imagine the horrors that took place in this very spot. However, you will also find there a statue bearing the inscription, "Never Again", a solemn promise of the German people that they will 'never again' commit such unspeakable acts - another true victory for peace.

10.) Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest - technically, it's not a place, but it's just too good a festival to leave out of any 'top ten list' that concerns tourism and Germany. This fun-filled festival in the town of Bavaria is guaranteed to leave you intoxicated and euphoric. You can spend days on end just drinking authentic German Ale and just letting yourself loose.

Books Set in Spain - Five Novels to Read Before You Travel

If you are planning a trip to Spain, you might be thinking it is all about the sun, sand and Sangria.

That is the side of Spain that is often portrayed in the popular media, but if you'd like to know a little bit more about the country you are traveling to then it might be time to turn to some books set in Spain that delve into Spanish life and tell us something of the country's difficult history.

Travel Leisure

It has not been such a long time since Spain was divided by a bitter civil war and the subsequent years of fascism. It wasn't until General Francisco Franco died in 1975 after a forty year reign, that the country was able to embark on becoming the democratic country it is today.

Books Set in Spain - Five Novels to Read Before You Travel

You can find out what it was like for Spaniards in those years by reading the following novels.

'Guernica' by Dave Boling

The town of Guernica is in the Basque region of northern Spain. In 1937 hundreds of residents were killed when the town was bombed by German and Italian war planes. This inspired Pablo Picasso to create a painting of the event -- the horror of the images helping to bring attention to the Spanish Civil War. This novel is the story of that painting and the people depicted in it We become immersed in the lives of the Ansogegui family in the lead up to the war, as well as the devastating years of the war itself -- following them as they try to come to terms with the impact the conflict has on themselves and their loved ones. If you'd like to know more about the Basque people and this particular slice of history, then this novel is ideal.

'The Time of the Doves' by Merce Rodoreda

Set in Barcelona before, during and after the Civil War, this novel follows the life of Natalia through her suffering and depression. It may be a tear-jerker, but it is also a tale of hope and survival. And when you go to Barcelona, you can visit La Placa Del Diamant, the original Catalan title of the novel, and a crucial location in the novel.

'A Manuscript of Ashes' by Antonio Munoz Molina

This novel begins during the latter years of Franco's reign, in the late 1960's. Minaya is a university student who has been imprisoned for his role in a demonstration. He flees to the countryside to work on his thesis and becomes absorbed in a story from the past. It's a mystery, a love story, and a portrayal of the complexities and tumult of the Civil War.

'Winter in Madrid' by C.J. Sansom

As the title suggests, the location of this novel is the Spanish capital. Englishman Harry Brett has been sent to Madrid by the British Secret Service to spy on an old friend. It is 1940, and Harry is soon immersed in the political complexities of post-Civil War Spain. There is also of course, a love story or two...

'The Return' by Victoria Hislop

This novel is a curious mix of chick-lit and historical fiction. And while the style of the writing could be considered 'beach read', the subject matter is not. Told in a mix of past and present, the novel gives a frightening portrayal of the war in the city of Granada. It shows how civil war pits neighbors and even brothers against each other, while the chaos that follow destroys the dreams and relationships of those who are left behind. If you are planning on visiting Granada, then this book is a must.

By all means enjoy the fantastic lifestyle and culture that you will experience on a trip to Spain today, but if you want to really understand the people that you meet on your journey, then any of these books will help you to do that. Immersing yourself in the history of a city or country does much to enhance your travels, so why not read these novels and take that first step. And once you have done that, there are plenty of more books set in Spain to explore....

Cheap Flights - Pet-Friendly Airline Travel

So many pet owners find it almost imaginable to consider leaving their four-legged best friend at home while they travel to various destinations around the country or around the globe. The good news is that many airlines allow pet travel, and although it will cost you more, there are more options than ever before when it comes to finding a cheap flight that will allow you to bring your pet with you no matter where you go (well almost). Pet-friendly flights allow you to take to the skies with your pet without worrying about boarding the pet at a kennel or hiring a dog sitter.

Finding a pet-friendly airline is not that hard because airlines have come to the realization that many people would simply fly with another carrier than to not fly with their pets. But there are some that haven't gotten on board with being pet-friendly, most of them have. Keep in mind that all airlines that allow pets to travel by air will also require that you obtain a certificate from your veterinarian that certifies the animal to be healthy and that the animal has had all of its shots and is up to date with immunizations. The certificate must be less than thirty days old in most instances. American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Horizon Airlines, U.S. Airways, American West, United Airlines, and Continental are all considered to be the most pet-friendly airlines. Many airlines (such as American Airlines) will allow dogs that weigh less than twenty pounds (including the weight of their kennel) to ride in the cabin area of the airliner beneath your seat, and the kennel must be small enough to fit beneath your seat well. Larger animals may ride in the cargo hold beneath the plane, but only in specified containers that are approved for safe travel. For the safety of pets, some airlines will not allow animals to ride in the cargo hold during the cold months of the year. Airlines may also specify that there can only be a particular number of dogs per flight in the cabin, usually three. For this reason, if you plan to travel with your smaller dog, be sure to book your flight well in advance and let the airline know that you're bringing the dog with you. You will be charged more for your seat because of the dog being on board with you - and the amount that you must pay is significantly more if the dog rides in the cargo hold. Some airlines may require that you reserve your flight at least seven days in advance if you're bringing a pet.

Travel Leisure

And while you can find cheap flights to your location by comparing travels dates and arranging your itinerary to fly on days that are cheaper, you can expect to pay anywhere from - 0 or more each way for your dog to come along with you.

Cheap Flights - Pet-Friendly Airline Travel

If you're on a particularly long flight, be sure to bring along some treats for your dog to munch on, and consider purchasing a small water bowl that you can stash in his kennel. When you land at your destination, your dog that rides in the cargo hold will be checked at the airport like a piece of luggage, and you may have to pay checking fees for the service.
